President Update October 12, 2009
Hi everyone,
I hope you've had a great week. I am sure everyone is happy to have a weekend off from ROTC stuff. We were all due for a little break!
We are gearing up for a few events in the next couple of weeks.
One important event is our Walk-a-thon which is currently going on. We are now collecting pledges to help raise funds for the Military Ball. We hope you will consider participating by raising much needed funds for the Corps. If everyone raised at least $10, we would have almost $1000. My hope is that everyone will try to raise even more than that, as we need these funds for our Booster Club. Please, everyone, try and support this fundraiser. We defnitely need your help! The Walk-a-thon will be held on October 23 during each flight's regular ROTC class period. We ask that all money is returned by November 2.
Next Friday, we have another home football game. We are serving soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.
We need at least five or six crock pots of soup-your choice, just let me know what kind so I can make sure to fill in the blanks to have a variety.
Several loaves of white bread
Cheese
Drinks
Dessert
If you want to contribute towards this game meal, that would be great. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to contribute.
The Clemson Drill Comp will be on Saturday, October 24. We will be leaving on Friday, October 23 after school. Cost for this trip is $115.00. Please get your money and permission slips in as soon as possible. The fee includes the drill competition registration fees, the bus, and the hotel. Please note: each cadet will still need money for meals for this trip (meals will include a Friday night fast food meal, a fast food lunch, and a fast food dinner). Breakfast will be continental in the hotel. In case anyone wants to join us down in South Carolina, we will be staying at the Sleep Inn on Tiger Blvd. If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact me.
On another note, the Inspection went well. The cadets were complimented on their drill, their uniforms, and many other parts of the program were evaluated well. Of course, we didn't receive perfect marks on everything (as expected), but we did well. Thanks to all the cadets, Major Bailey, and Sgt. Smith for a job well done.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for all you do.
Leah
